PRE-PRODUCTION – INQUIRY

Leader(s) in the Field / Exemplary Work(s)

Danny Carrey is one of the most prolific and influential drummers of our time. His excellent work with different time signatures and compositions for Tool make him one of the best drummers in the world today. This interview allowed me to get to know him more as someone who doesn’t listen to Tool on the daily or quite frankly ever.

Both together

They line up after 2 bars

4/4 chunk split into two groups

Takes a bit for the parts to line up

The part in the video is easier than the beginning that isn’t taught.

Kind of following the rest of the band

Mainly focusing on tempo with this one.

Gonna have to work on the intro another time.

POST-PRODUCTION – REFLECTION

Ways of Thinking (Creativity, Innovation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving)

The most innovative aspect of this session was honestly the experimentation in regards to time signature and song structure. We really pushed ourselves to write new, and different material than our songs last year and I think it produced great results.

Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)

This time around with communication the songwriting happened a lot right in front of my eyes. Liam and Connor also worked hard to collaborate outside of school as well.

Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)

I learned how to use GarageBand with the headphones to a larger extent.

Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)

We’ve been given multiple opportunities for gigs and shows around town and they have proven to be very fulfilling. This would be a great career.

Reactions to the Final Version

Keith enjoyed the transitions in the song and the cohesiveness with the structure. April said we should fix bass mix.

Self-Evaluation of Final Version

I enjoyed this song that Connor brought to the table. No more odd time signatures please and thank you.
